11. Verify source of funds
As part of Juni’s regulatory requirements, we ask customers to confirm the businesses source of funds. The steps vary slightly depending on where the company is registered:

For Swedish-registered companies:

For companies registered outside of Sweden:

You’ll be asked to select the company’s primary source of funds from a list of predefined categories (e.g. investor capital, revenue, loan, etc.).

You’ll need to verify the company’s source of funds by either:

  • Integrating the company’s primary bank account(s) with Juni, or

  • Uploading a bank statement as a PDF file

What’s required for each option:

1. Integrate the company’s bank account(s)
The integrated account must:

  • Be issued in the company’s name

  • Contain at least 150 transactions to confirm business activity

  • Show both incoming and outgoing transactions

Note: If the primary bank isn’t available for integration or the integration fails, you can choose to upload a statement instead

2. Upload a bank statement
The statement must:

  • Be in the company’s legal name (only business accounts are accepted)

  • Be from a recognised banking institution

  • The bank’s logo/name needs to be clearly displayed

  • Be dated within the last 3 months

  • Show a minimum of at least 1 months worth of incoming and outgoing transactions

  • Include IBAN/Account number/Sort code

Once you have confirmed the primary source of funds, select Next

Step 2: Confirm company board members

Confirm the details of all your company's board members. If you selected your company from the search, their details may be pre-filled. You just need to verify that the information is correct and up-to-date.

Note that you will be asked to provide an email address for them and declare if they are a PEP or not.

Step 3: Confirm company UBOs

You are required to add all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs). A UBO is an individual who owns or controls more than 25% of the company.

  1. If a UBO is also a director, you can simply toggle a switch to confirm their details

  2. If your company has no natural person who owns or controls more than 25%, you must specify an Alternative Beneficial Owner (ABO). An ABO is typically the chairman of the board, CEO, or managing director

Note that you will be asked to provide an email address for them and declare if they are a PEP or not.

Step 4: Identity verification

For Swedish-registered companies:

For companies registered outside of Sweden:

To comply with regulatory requirements, the signing director needs to verify their identity.

To comply with regulatory requirements, at least one company director and all UBOs or ABOs must verify their identity.

The director who verifies their identity will:

  1. Become the owner of the Juni account

  2. Be responsible for signing the application as the final application step

Step-by-step: How identity verification works

1. Juni sends out verification invites

Each UBO/ABO and/or the signing director will receive an email invite with instructions

  1. They’ll be asked to create a Juni user account

  2. They must verify their identity by uploading an ID and taking a live selfie video

Filling out the application on behalf of others? You can select alternative verification options for UBOs/ABOs. Please refer to Option 2 under verification methods below

2. Choose a verification method

For Swedish-registered companies:

For companies registered outside of Sweden:

Option 1: Liveness ID verification (default)

  • Upload a valid ID document (passport, national ID card, or driver’s license)

  • Take a selfie video to confirm your identity

Option 2: BankID (available in Sweden only)

If you’re based in Sweden and have BankID, you can verify instantly by following the onscreen instructions.

Option 1: Liveness ID verification (default)

  • Upload a valid ID document (passport, national ID card, or driver’s license)

  • Take a selfie video to confirm your identity

Important tips for a smooth verification:

  • Use original ID documents (no scans or photocopies)

  • Ensure the ID is clear, in colour, and fully visible

  • Take the selfie in a calm environment, free from background distractions

  • No one else should be visible in the frame

  • Avoid glare, blur, or poor lighting

Option 2: Upload certified ID documents
If UBOs/ABOs cannot complete the liveness flow, certified documents can be uploaded instead:

  • Select Document upload on the verification screen

  • A consent email will be sent to the UBO/ABO

  • Once consent is given, upload a high-quality colour copy of their ID

  • The copy must be certified by a recognised professional (e.g. lawyer, judge, accountant, banker, post official)

⚠️ Document upload is not available for the signing director - they must verify their own identity.

Step 5: Signing the application

This is the final step! After all ID verifications are completed:

  1. The authorised director must log in and follow the instructions to sign the application

  2. Once the Director signs, a copy will be sent to their email, which may take up to 30 minutes to arrive

  3. The application will then be sent to the Juni team for review for account approval

Why could Juni ask for additional information?

We're legally required to verify the identity of all our customers to prevent financial crime and ensure a secure financial platform. We will ask you to provide all the information and documents required for your account, but sometimes we may need to ask for additional information to complete the verification process.

This may happen if:
